Louis Vuitton Tops List as Most Counterfeited Luxury Brand

According to Entrupy’s latest The State of Fake report, Louis Vuitton has become the most frequently counterfeited luxury brand, accounting for 32.76% of all luxury items submitted for authentication. Prada ranks second in the handbag category, with 14.42% of its bags identified as counterfeit. Chanel tops the list in terms of total counterfeit value, reaching $500.47 million. Goyard’s St. Louis Tote saw an 18.4% counterfeit rate, making it one of the most frequently counterfeited products by volume.
The report highlights that counterfeiting remains a serious global issue. In the U.S. alone, fraudulent returns and claims cost retailers an estimated $103 billion in 2024, representing 15.14% of all returns. Counterfeiters have become increasingly sophisticated, leveraging social media to promote fake goods and making enforcement more difficult.
According to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), counterfeit goods cause approximately €60 billion in losses annually within the EU and are responsible for around 434,000 job losses.
